Dr. Donald C. Shields is a board-certified neurosurgeon specializing in advanced surgical treatment for brain, spine, and neurological disorders using both traditional and minimally invasive techniques.
He specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgery, deep brain stimulation implantation, treatment of brain and spinal cord tumors, epilepsy care, and movement and mood disorders.
A native of Spartanburg, Dr. Shields earned his Doctor of Medicine and Doctor of Philosophy degrees from the Medical University of South Carolina and later completed neurosurgery residency training at UCLA followed by a Functional Neurosurgery fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Shields sees patients at all three CONA locations: Spartanburg, Duncan and Greenville.
