Dr. Ian Gao is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic sports medicine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive shoulder and knee procedures for athletes and active individuals.

He specializes in ACL tears, meniscus injuries, rotator cuff tears, shoulder instability, labral tears, joint replacement, and orthopaedic trauma with a focus on restoring movement and helping patients return to activity safely.

Dr. Gao graduated from Duke University, completed medical school at Northwestern University, orthopaedic surgery residency at Emory University, and sports medicine fellowship training at Stanford University where he served as a team physician for Stanford athletics and the Oakland Athletics Major League Baseball team.

Dr. Gao sees patients at all three CONA locations: Spartanburg, Duncan and Greenville.
